1. Since when can I pay up to € 50 contactless?
The proposed government measure introduced by the state in connection with the extended measures to reduce the risk of COVID-19 spread in the payment sector has been in force since 22 April 2020. In practice, this means that POS terminal owners should be prepared for the change from that date and they should have updated POS terminals to the new limit.
2. Does the change in the limit also apply to magnetic stripe card payments?
No, the change only applies to contactless payments using payment cards with a contactless function, the so-called contactless cards. The magnetic stripe card does not allow contactless payments.
3. How much money will I be able to pay after the new one?
The limit change applies to the adjustment of the limit for one contactless payment from € 20 to € 50, cumulatively for several consecutive contactless payments it is € 150.
4. Where can I use contactless payments with Edenred cards?
Pay with contactless cards from Edenred in all contractual Edenred operations that have a contactless payment terminal, or by means of SMS payments in operations without a payment terminal. In addition, with the Ticket Restaurant card® also via Apple Pay or Google PayTM, mobile phone or watch, essentially without any physical contact.
5. Does this measure also change the maximum value of purchases per day when paying with a meal card or a holiday card from Edenred?
No, the maximum daily values of purchases with Edenred contactless cards remain unchanged, ie maximum value of payments by contactless meal card Ticket Restaurant® or through the Ticket Restaurant service® Mobile (SMS mobile payments) per day is 90 €.
Maximum value of Edenred Holiday card payments or via the Edenred Holiday mobile payment service (SMS mobile payments) per day is 500 €.
The limit change only applies to the amount of the limit for one contactless payment, ie the maximum value of one contactless payment without entering a PIN (only applies to Edenred contactless cards) is € 50. For contactless payment over 50 € it is necessary to enter the PIN code.
6. Will anything change with mobile payments?
When paying by mobile phone, nothing changes from the point of view of the contactless card user. In addition, with a contactless Ticket Restaurant card®, it is also possible to pay contactlessly via the Apple Pay or Google Pay applicationsTM, mobile phone or watch, essentially without any physical contact. Thanks to these applications, it is also possible to pay amounts over € 50 without contacting the payment terminal.
7. What should I do if the payment terminal does not allow me to make a contactless payment up to € 50 without using a PIN code?
If you will not be allowed to make a contactless payment of up to € 50 from the beginning, just use the PIN code. The operation must be notified to verify the settings of the payment terminal whether their terminal is updated to the new limit.
